I believe in a systemic, relational, and psychodynamic approach to psychoemotional well-being. I believe in time-limited approaches to treatment that don’t leave you on medications or in Psychotherapy for years. I believe in the cautious use of medications to help adults face psychoemotional challenges. This is why I primarily limit the use of medications to Ketamine Psychotherapy at this time.

The building blocks of health are movement, breath, nutrition and relationships. These building blocks have widespread effects on the rest of your life experience, such as sleep, mood, and energy levels. Sometimes we can become so paralyzed in our anxiety, fear, or depression that we can no longer nurture ourselves with our movement, breath, nutrition and relationships. It is my aim to help you out of self-reinforcing cycles of depression and anxiety and help you enter into life-affirming patterns that can support inspired living.

Traditional approaches to psychiatric treatment leave people on medications for extensive periods of time, and utilizes an epistemological framework of medications and neurotransmitters to explain your subjective experience. Trying to understand your subjective experience through the lens of neurotransmitters is similar to explaining how a bird flies through the lens of particle physics. I aim to help co-create a story with you that intuitively helps you make sense of your life situation and empowers you. Many people seeking treatment for depression, anxiety and trauma have had years of treatment, and are already on psychiatric medications. My aim is to help people taper off psychiatric medications if they are on them and replace them with lifestyle changes that are regenerative.

In addition to seeing adults for treatment, I see teens together with their parents in the context of family therapy. Relationship is one of the bedrocks of our psychoemotional health. I believe that the most powerful intervention that I can make is helping you to improve your relationships. Even in individual therapy, research has shown that most of the benefits of therapy, regardless of the particular form of therapy, is due to the relationship between client and therapist. Often times relationship can be the source of many of our issues. But, the challenging relationships you have with your parents, children, and partners, are the very relationships that can heal your psychoemotional wounding.

I specifically avoid using the language of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders (DSM.) I do this because it is generally not a beneficial way of getting insight into one’s self, experience, thoughts, and relationships. If you require Superbills to obtain insurance reimbursement, a diagnosis is generally required for this. If this is the case, we will discuss which diagnosis best fits your current life situation.
